Role summary


As a Body Shop Technician, you'll repair and refinish trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment -- from metalwork and welding to sandblasting, rust treatment and paint finishing. You'll work closely with maintenance and operations to prioritize repairs that maximize fleet uptime and safety while maintaining a high-quality finish.

Key Responsibilities


  • Perform body repairs (dent removal, panel replacement, welding) to trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment
  • Prep, sand, fill, prime, and finish surfaces with spray or brush methods to deliver durable, showroom-quality paintwork.
  • Sandblast frames, components, and panels; treat rust and apply undercoatings to extend equipment life and reduce future repairs.
  • Replace or repair bumpers, doors, hoods, fenders, and other body components; install decals, reflectors, and safety markings to meet compliance standards.
  • Inspect completed work against quality and safety standards; document repairs, parts used, and recommended follow-ups.
  • Maintain an organized, safe workspace (spray booth, tools, PPE); follow material safety and paint/flammable handling procedures.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and operations to prioritize jobs, manage parts inventory, and ensure timely turnaround.

Qualifications


Required (must-have capabilities)


  • Proficient in auto-body repair techniques: metalwork, panel replacement, dent removal, sanding, filling, and priming.
  • Skilled operating welders, grinders, sanders, air tools, and spray equipment; ability to safely mix and apply paint systems.
  • Solid attention to finish quality, organization, and process documentation.
  • Knowledge of safety standards for paint fumes, flammable materials, and PPE usage.
  • Valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not required).

Preferred (nice-to-have)


  • Vocational certification or training in auto body repair, collision repair, or related trade.
  • Experience with heavy equipment bodywork (trucks, trailers, excavators, graders).
  • Spray-paint system certifications, OSHA training, or similar safety credentials.

Location & Work model


On-site at our office Albany, 12205. Some travel to field sites may be required depending on project needs.
