JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a Construction Superintendent / Construction Manager (Heavy Highway) to lead field operations on a large-scale, long-term infrastructure project based in the Syracuse, NY area.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced professionals open to traveling or temporarily working away from home while contributing to a high-impact, multi-year project.
You will play a critical role in delivering work safely, on time, and within budget--leading crews, coordinating stakeholders, and ensuring execution meets the highest standards.
Travel & Project Commitment:
- Based in Syracuse, NY (project site)
- Open to candidates outside the Syracuse region willing to travel or stay locally during the workweek
- Long-term project offering continuity and stability of work
In your first 90 days, you will:
- Take ownership of daily site operations, productivity, and performance targets
- Build strong working relationships with foremen, crews, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Implement proactive scheduling and risk management to keep projects on track
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee daily construction site operations to ensure alignment with schedules, budgets, and safety requirements
- Lead foremen and crews through clear communication, daily briefings, and productivity tracking
- Develop and manage weekly and monthly look-ahead schedules to anticipate risks and delays
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, traffic control teams, and project engineers
- Manage equipment, materials, and documentation using construction management software
- Interpret blueprints and ensure execution aligns with NYSDOT specifications and standards
- Conduct toolbox talks, site inspections, and enforce OSHA regulations to maintain a safe work environment
- Maintain high standards of quality, efficiency, and compliance across all phases of construction
REQUIREMENTS
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent or Construction Manager in heavy highway or infrastructure projects
- Strong proficiency in blueprint reading and NYSDOT standards
- Solid computer skills, including project scheduling and construction management tools
- Demonstrated leadership managing crews, subcontractors, and field operations
- Strong commitment to OSHA compliance and a safety-first approach
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with project budgeting and financial management
- OSHA 30, PMP, or other relevant construction or safety certifications
- Experience managing multi-million-dollar highway or bridge projects

LOCATION
- Primary Project Location: Syracuse, NY
- Regional Scope: New York and New Jersey projects over time
- Compensation: $125,000 to $195,000 based on experience
